About Futsal
Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller, harder ball. The surface, ball, and rules create an emphasis in improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
Over the last few years, Portuguese Futsal went from the most practiced sport recreation to the most practiced indoor sport with larger perspectives of improvement. During the last four years, Ricardinho, a Portuguese player, was considered the best world futsal player. And in 2018, Portugal won the European Championship for the first time in its history.
In Coimbra, the AAC futsal team is one of the most older clubs of this sport in Portugal and has a long list of awards with several wins in the National Futsal Championship.
