The Closing Ceremony ended the EUG2018

The Closing Ceremony of The European Universities Games, held in the city of Coimbra, went by in the Sport's Complex of The University Stadium and officially ended the biggest multi-sport event ever held in Portugal.

After the fado group "Capas ao Luar" sing the Portuguese National Anthem, the 80 universities present walked in representation of their schools, opening the way for a group of gymnasts to perform "Vida Académica", a show who aimed to demonstrate the meaning of the academic spirit lived in Coimbra.

The general secretary of the Games, Mário Santos, opened the speech session by saying that the material legacy left in the city is quite visible, especially at the University Stadium. He continued affirming that "now is our responsibility and duty to assure that the immaterial legacy will prevail building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sports practice without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play". The President of EUSA, Adam Roczeck, and Maria Fernanda Rollo, the State Secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education were also present at the ceremony and spoke words of gratitude and greatness about the Games.

The ceremony ended with the descent of the EUSA's flag and it's passing to the organising committee of the EUG2020, at Belgrade.
