University of Coimbra hosted the III Portuguese Swimming Convention
University of Coimbra hosted this Saturday, 14th of October, the III Portuguese Swimming Convention, an event organized by the Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN). The convention is part of the European Universities Games Coimbra 2018’s Educational Programme. After the Convention, Hotel Vila Galé in Coimbra received the annual Gala of the Federation that recognized the best in Swimming in Portugal last year.
The III Portuguese Swimming Convention had several speakers and subjects, but we should highlight two important Portuguese athletes, Inês Henriques, World Champion and World Record owner in 50km Female Walk Race, and Fernando Pimenta, Silver in Canoeing World Championships in 2017 and Silver medallist in London 2012 Olympic Games.
Other key moment was the directing in sports panel, which had the contributions of important speakers, such as the Portuguese Olympic Committee President, José Manuel Constantino, the Portuguese Football Federation Vice-President, and former Secretary of State for Sports and Youth, Hermínio Loureiro, and the Secretary-General of EUG’s Organizing Committee, Mário Santos.
This was another event held in Coimbra due to the EUG 2018, which will occur in July 2018. Besides the sporting competition, the organization developed an Educational Programme that comprises several events and activities, like this Convention. This event is also due to several partnerships established between EUG’s 2018 Organizing Committee and Portuguese Sports Federations, like FPN.
