The eye of the volunteers - Day 19

Today is Júlia Miranda's turn to tell us more about her experience as a volunteer at EUG2018:

"It’s been sunny since the start of the games. I guess the sky is as happy as I am to have Coimbra hosting the University Europeans games this year. It's been sunny and that makes me smile, but it also makes me sweat.

Standing in the middle of the Table Tennis pavilion, where there is no ar conditioner because of the little white ball, I break a sweat just blinking. But is good, makes me feel closer to the athletes, even though they are the ones really doing the effort here. However I guess that's the point in volunteering, is realizing that even though you are not playing, you are not getting medals, you are still playing an important role in the whole event, that makes you sweat just like the ones getting prestige.

And as the little tiny white ball goes from one side of the table to the other, and the athletes do things I could never, I realize that even though I am not like them, I am just as important, we are just as important in this whole thing and we are going to do our best and have fun, just like everyone else."
