The European Universities Games gather student/athletes from all around the continent in an event where 13 different sports will compete. Almost 300 universities will be represented in the games by 3.150 athletes from 38 European countries. The sports practice requires not only the athlete's presence but also of referees, coaches, medical staff making a total of 4100 accredited for the event. During EUG, 125.000 meals will be served and 2.100 beds are available for accommodation. 

Hosting this type of competition wouldn't be possible without the help of a thousand volunteers, 400 locals, another 400 from other Portuguese regions, and 200 internationals. 

Portugal will be the most represented country, with 440 athletes representing 13 universities, followed by Germany who brought 369 athletes from 39 universities. France will compete with 27 universities represented by 294 athletes.
