The Europen Universities Games opening ceremony, which won’t be open to the public, will be the kick-off of the biggest multi-sport event ever held in Portugal and it will count with the presence of the Portuguese Republic’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Education Tiago Brandão Rodrigues and the State Secretary of Youth and Sport João Paulo Rebelo. The President of City Hall, Manuel Machado, the Dean of Coimbra’s University João Gabriel Silva, the President of FADU Daniel Monteiro, the President of AAC, Alexandro Amado and EUG's Secretary-General, Mário Santos, will also be present in a ceremony hosted by the tv presenters Filomena Cautela and Jorge Gabriel. The famous fado singer Cuca Roseta will perform the Portuguese national anthem followed by a beautiful video mapping show "The light of the game", an unprecedented multimedia show dedicated to universities sports, which can be attended by the public, between July 16th and 21s.

The ceremony will occur at Pátio das Escolas, on July 15th, in the courtyard of UC, at 9 pm and it won’t be open to the public.
